A suffix is the ending part of a drug’s generic name, and it often hints at what the drug is used for. 1. –prazole

  • Examples: Omeprazole, Pantoprazole
  • Meaning: These are Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs).
  • Use: Treat acid reflux, gastritis, GERD, and peptic ulcers by reducing stomach acid.

2. –dazole

  • Examples: Albendazole, Metronidazole
  • Meaning: Anti-helminthic or anti-parasitic drugs.
  • Use: Treat intestinal worm infestations and protozoal infections.

3. –fenac
